To The Delegates Of Today And The Leaders Of Tomorrow:
I would like to wish you the best of luck. For it is a known fact and not just mere idealism that you and I are going to be inheriting this world from the generations before us. And thus we are going to be the ones inheriting the wars, the famines, the disasters, among the other tragedies of the world. But we will also be the ones driving the change, setting up the pace for development, and pushing the globe into a new world order. One of world peace, sustainability, economic stability, and dynamic developments; a world where inequalities have been eliminated and a world that has never been greener before.
And so this year, the Secretariat for Genesis Model UN has decided on the theme of the Sanskrit phrase 'Bhumi Bhavato Nityam'- Let The Earth Be Forever. The theme revolves around much more than just everlasting environmentalism. The Earth exists not just as an astronomical body but also as a sanctuary for all humans and creatures. The Earth's continuation is dependent on its inhabitant's actions as much as it revolves around its geological occurrences. When we talk about the eternal continuation of the Earth we talk about its sucessors too. The people who will keep this planet alive in its truest sense. The Ambassadors for Change who will set the cornerstone for a globe with blossoming diversities and opportunities.
And therefore, as inheritors of this blue planet, and successors of tomorrow, it is our responsibility to partake in the discussions revolving around its sustenance. In our stride, we have to include not just deforestation, climate action, and natural disasters but also poverty, famines, lack of healthcare, nutrition, and education, and most important of all, the blatant revocation of liberty and rights. We have to take the initiative to stand up and talk about the elephant in the room and negotiate for those at their most vulnerable. The world of international affairs is not one so distant and far away. Model UN allows delegates to become diplomats and representatives. It allows the inculcation of the ideals of empathy and the discipline of cooperation. MUNs are not just a stimulation of the national and international debating forums but also a preparation for the students who hold the reins of the future.
It is with utmost pleasure and pride that I invite you to join us for the 9th edition of Genesis Model UN hosted by Genesis Global School in collaboration with City One Initiative, a national upskilling organization. Join us this year to debate, discuss, negotiate, and find solutions to the world's most critical problems. And so to the delegates who will take up the baton and accept the responsibility of keeping the torch of justice lighted, I wish you, once again, the very best of luck.
